Yan Diomande was recognized as the best player of Ivory Coast's 1-0 Group E victory over Ecuador in the 2026 World Cup first round. The 19-year-old winger plays for German club RB Leipzig.
'I gave more than 10 interviews. This is not my job — to talk,' Diomande said after the match, expressing weariness with post-match media obligations.
In the previous season, Diomande recorded 36 appearances, 13 goals, and 9 assists for RB Leipzig. Ivory Coast's victory puts them level with Germany (7-1 over Curacao) at the top of Group E with three points. Ivory Coast's next fixture is against Germany on June 20.
