Saudi Arabia coach Georgiou Donis spoke ahead of his team's Group H World Cup match against Spain at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on June 21, with kickoff at 19:00 MSK.
"We are playing against one of the best national teams in the world. It is very important when you meet such teams to enjoy the game and respect the opponent, but not overdo it," Donis told Mundo Deportivo.
The coach emphasized defensive strategy: "Any team playing against Spain finds it very difficult to keep the ball, so we need better control of our movements and be more compact. When the ball moves between the lines, we must defend dynamically."
Donis added that World Cup upsets do occur: "It is pleasant to see miracles in football—we have seen how favourites have lost to opponents weaker on paper."
