Ghana's captain Jordan Ayew credited his team's second-half response in their 1-0 FIFA World Cup victory over Panama on Wednesday, highlighting patience and tactical adaptation. Ayew stated the team remained composed despite Panama's first-half pressure and possession, but grew in confidence after the interval.
"The first half didn't go as planned, but we were patient," Ayew said. "In the second half a lot changed—we grew in confidence and kept possession much better. The substitutions helped because we knew we had to show our strength." Ghana's winning goal came in the dying minutes.
With two remaining group matches, including England next, Ayew expressed belief in Ghana's World Cup prospects: "It's always difficult playing at the World Cup. There are no easy games, but we believe in ourselves and we feel that anything is possible."
