France defender Lucas Hernández backed teammate Kilian Mbappé to perform at the World Cup after concerns about his recent club form.
"Is everyone too harsh on Mbappé?" Hernández told L'Équipe. "When you're Mbappé, everyone watches you far more closely. But he's 100 per cent motivated to start this World Cup."
Hernández, who missed France's pre-tournament preparation, confirmed that Mbappé impressed in training sessions: "I wasn't at training, but I was told he's in very good form. He will silence all the critics who spoke out during this season."
France captain Mbappé faces scrutiny following a challenging PSG campaign but arrives at the tournament confident after his World Cup preparation. France begin their Group H campaign against Senegal on 16 June, followed by Iraq on 23 June and Norway on 26 June.
