Liverpool have rejected Inter Milan's €25m (£21m) bid for midfielder Curtis Jones, demanding €40m (£35m) for their academy product. Liverpool management are growing "increasingly frustrated" with Inter's attempts to lower the valuation, according to multiple UK reports.
Jones, 25, is heading into the final year of his Liverpool contract, which Inter views as an opportunity to acquire a Premier League-proven midfielder below market value. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio said the club would "try again" after a January approach but noted: "If we find common ground, great. Otherwise, we will do something else."
The substantial gap between the clubs' positions suggests negotiations will be difficult without one party moving significantly. Jones' contract situation puts Liverpool under pressure to either extend his deal or secure a fee before his value diminishes further.
Further bids from Inter or interest from other suitors remain possible, but Liverpool have shown no flexibility on their €40m asking price so far.
