Japan head coach Hasimada Moriyasu took a bullish stance ahead of his team's World Cup Group F encounter with the Netherlands on 14 June, emphasizing the improvements made during pre-tournament preparation.
"Throughout the World Cup in Qatar and this championship, the foundation of our game has always been team tactics," Moriyasu said. "We've grown considerably as a team before the World Cup."
The Japan manager highlighted his side's development across both attacking and defensive phases. "Our players choose how to play within these models depending on the situation, and through individual matchups they communicate and remain united," he explained.
"Japanese people demonstrate persistence—we set our goal, we show effort and the power to move forward. Now we're fighting for the future, for victory in this World Cup. We're passing the relay through our history. That is where Japan's true strength lies," Moriyasu concluded. Japan faces Tunisia in their second group match on 21 June, followed by Sweden on 26 June.
