London dominates: England squad features record 10 World Cup players from capital

England's World Cup squad demonstrates pronounced regional representation, with a record 10 players originating from London—surpassing the 'Golden Generation' of the 2000s that produced David Beckham, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, and Frank Lampard.

The North West remains England's premier talent pipeline, supplying seven representatives. Goalkeeper Dean Henderson from Cumbria made a two-and-a-half hour round trip from Whitehaven to Carlisle United's academy, while James Trafford was raised on a family farm near Cockermouth. Manchester's Nico O'Reilly has the city's dialling code 0161 tattooed on his arm.

The North East, despite its smaller population, has produced more World Cup players per capita than any other English region. Sunderland's Jordan Henderson earned a joint England record with four World Cup appearances.

Scotland's squad reflects its regional football culture. Captain Andy Robertson previously worked on the tills at Marks & Spencer on Sauchiehall Street, while Lawrence Shankland began as an employee at a plumbing factory in Hillington.
