Montella blames officiating as Turkey exits World Cup

Vincenzo Montella blamed unfavorable officiating after Turkey's 0-1 defeat to Paraguay eliminated them from the World Cup group stage. Montella suggested refereeing decisions, rather than poor performance, determined the outcome.

"In 35 years of professional football, something happened to me that happens once in 50 matches, and it happened twice in a row. Fate was not on our side," Montella said, alluding to controversial decisions in Turkey's final two group matches.

Turkey finished their campaign with zero points, becoming the second team eliminated from the tournament after Haiti. Montella's comments reinforce concerns about officiating consistency during the World Cup group stage.
