Ivan Perišić, 37, provided an assist for Petar Musa in Croatia's 4-2 loss to England in Group L's opening match. With this achievement, Perišić entered an exclusive club previously occupied only by Lionel Messi.
Perišić has now recorded assists across four World Cup tournaments beginning with Brazil 2014, joining Messi as the only players to achieve this feat since records began in 1966. Messi holds the outright record with assists across five World Cups.
