Rice set to feature vs Ghana despite lower back pain

Declan Rice was substituted in the 72nd minute of England's 4-2 World Cup opener against Croatia after suffering lower back pain. The Arsenal midfielder, 27, was replaced by Morgan Rogers.

Manager Thomas Tuchel stated: "I didn't want to take any risks, I hope it's nothing more. Declan just reassured me at the end. We will take care of it, and it's nothing big to worry about."

Rice is expected to be available for England's next group-stage match against Ghana on June 21 in Boston. The back issue is one he has been carrying and will require management throughout the tournament.

Uncertainty over Rice's availability affects England's midfield pressing intensity and ball control, key factors in knockout-stage performance and defensive stability.
