Maurizio Sarri, 67, arrives at Atalanta having managed over 800 professional matches. His record includes a UEFA Europa League title with Chelsea, a Serie A title with Juventus, and spells at Napoli where he achieved three consecutive seasons above the club's previous points record.

Most recently, Sarri led Lazio to the Coppa Italia final and guided the club to the Champions League Round of 16 in 2023-24, described as the second-best European result in modern Lazio history. His appointment comes after Massimiliano Allegri's mid-season dismissal, which cost Atalanta Champions League qualification.

The appointment reunites Sarri with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, with whom he collaborated at Napoli between 2015 and 2018. Sarri's first match will be a pre-season fixture at Celtic on 25 July.
