Ghana progressed in Group C with a 1-0 victory over Panama, the winning goal coming from midfielder Caleb Yirenko's shot in the 90+5th minute. Forward Antoine Semenyo subsequently reflected on the emotional impact and strategic importance of the result.
Speaking to FIFA's official website, Semenyo said: 'The 90+5 minute... I don't even know how to describe those emotions. We all felt enormous relief because we understood how important this game was for us.' Semenyo emphasized the confidence the win would provide entering the group's decisive stages.
Ghana faces England on June 23 and Croatia on June 28 in their remaining Group C fixtures. Semenyo said: 'We feel we have talent with this team, we have something to prove, and I think that's our driving force. We can't ease off because two important games and serious tests await us, but this win and the confidence it brings could potentially help us progress to the next round.'
