Mikel Amondarain remains a target for multiple clubs, with Bologna's pursuit of the 21-year-old Estudiantes midfielder now complicated by Nottingham Forest's entry into negotiations. Bologna had pushed close to a deal with the Argentine club but talks have stalled over Estudiantes' €9–10 million asking price, creating an opening for Forest to pursue their midfield target.
The 21-year-old is a product of Estudiantes' youth academy who graduated to the senior squad last year. His current contract with the Argentine club runs through December 2028.
Amondarain is regarded as a versatile midfielder capable of operating in a three-man midfield, as a defensive midfielder, or on the right wing. He has recorded four goals and three assists in 23 appearances for Estudiantes this season.
Bologna had identified Amondarain as a priority target for midfield additions this summer. Nottingham Forest's involvement, however, is seen as having shifted the balance of the transfer pursuit. The Premier League club's financial resources are believed to give them an advantage in negotiations with Estudiantes over the player's valuation.
