Fernández: 'One book not enough' to capture learning from Messi

Following Argentina's 2-0 victory over Austria on June 22, Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández reflected on his bond with captain Lionel Messi. Messi scored twice in the match to reach 18 World Cup goals, becoming the all-time leading goalscorer in tournament history.

Fernández recalled writing to Messi in 2016 after the Copa America final loss, when Messi briefly announced his international retirement before returning to the squad. "I remember that letter well. It was a very difficult time for all Argentinians," Fernández said.

"Today I would write him even more touching words, because over this time I have been through so much alongside him and shared important moments. He is not only a great footballer, but a wonderful person. One book would not be enough to tell you everything I have learned from him," the midfielder added.
