Following the completion of Round 2 group matches, five nations have been confirmed eliminated from the tournament. Haiti and Panama suffered back-to-back defeats in Groups C and L respectively. Turkey became the first European nation eliminated after losses to Australia (0–2) and Paraguay (0–1). Tunisia faced heavy defeats to Sweden and Japan, while tournament debutant Jordan became the only Asian nation mathematically guaranteed not to advance.
The expanded 2026 format sees 32 of 48 teams advance to the knockout stage. The top two teams from each of the 12 groups automatically qualify, plus the eight third-placed teams with the best records. A total of 16 teams will depart at the end of group play.
With 16 teams now confirmed eliminated, betting markets for remaining Group Stage matches have shifted significantly. Third-place qualification scenarios now depend critically on goal difference, making differential betting particularly relevant in the final group games scheduled for 24–25 June.
