German police raid DFB headquarters over Euro 2024 corruption allegations

Police in Germany have conducted raids on the national football federation (DFB) headquarters in Frankfurt and other locations across the country. The operation is part of an investigation into alleged corruption linked to the Euro 2024 European Championship.

The inquiry centers on accusations of "unauthorised favours," including improper invitations to matches and preferential treatment in ticket acquisition, allegedly received by employees of German host cities from officials of the organizing entity.

While the DFB confirmed its headquarters were searched, it stated that the investigation does not concern the federation as an organization or any individual employees or officials, but rather involves the DFB as a witness, pledging full cooperation with authorities. The Bild newspaper reported that the raids, involving over 150 officers, stem from suspected bribery against a 66-year-old German national and a 46-year-old French national, with several thousand tickets potentially illegally allocated.
