Having missed out on Marco Palestra (who chose Chelsea), Inter is now aggressively pursuing Real Madrid's Nico Paz after the Spanish club activates its €10–11m buyback clause at Como.
Inter's Oaktree ownership group had set aside €50m for Palestra and can now access €70m total with proceeds from Denzel Dumfries' Real Madrid transfer (€20m), positioning the Nerazzurri to meet Paz's €60m asking price.
Paz spent two seasons at Como on loan, winning Serie A's Under-23 Player of the Year award in 2025-26 with 13 goals and seven assists in 40 games, and remains reluctant to leave Europe despite Saudi Pro League interest.
Inter hope to leverage Argentina captain Lautaro Martínez—currently with the national team at the World Cup—to help convince Paz to choose Milan, while Como simultaneously attempts to convince Real to extend Paz's stay with another loan season under manager Cesc Fabregas.
