The Iranian Football Federation has officially responded to controversial statements made by US Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin. Mullin had publicly expressed joy over Iran's World Cup exit, stating he was happy about their visas being revoked and even "sang a few songs and danced with joy."

The Iranian FA condemned these remarks as "hostile" and "incorrect," asserting that Iranian citizens are accustomed to such treatment from US officials. They stated that such comments reflect a lack of adherence to international law and fall short of the standards expected from a host nation of a major international tournament.

The federation concluded that the official's open celebration "characterizes him much more brightly than our team," highlighting the "pettiness of the approach." Iran finished third in Group G with three points and did not advance to the knockout stage.
