Ronald Koeman, 63, has resigned as Netherlands manager after their World Cup exit, which saw the team knocked out by Morocco in a last-32 shootout after a 1-1 draw in Monterrey.
Justin Kluivert, Quinten Timber, and Crysencio Summerville all missed their penalties and were subjected to discriminatory, racist, and hateful comments on social media, according to the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB).
Koeman, who has stepped down from his second spell in charge of the national side, expressed his disappointment on Instagram, stating, 'No-one is more disappointed about that than me.'
The KNVB has vowed to seek criminal charges against anyone who has abused their players, emphasizing that such conduct is far removed from the principles of fair play, equality, and unity that a football World Cup should represent.
