Barcelona President Joan Laporta has addressed the club's offer for Julián Álvarez, stating that it was made with respect to Atlético Madrid. Laporta communicated with both Atlético's President Enrique Cerezo and CEO Miguel Angel Gil.
"We made this offer for Julián with all respect to Atlético. I spoke to both Cerezo and Miguel Angel Gil. The offer was sent, and Atlético told me they had no plan to sell Álvarez because they had no alternative as a striker," Laporta said.
Álvarez has been a key player for Atlético Madrid and has expressed his desire to play for a big club. Barcelona's offer remains firm, and they hope Atlético will consider it if they find suitable alternatives.
Julián Álvarez, a 26‑year‑old Argentine striker, plays for Atlético Madrid. He began his senior career at River Plate and moved to Atlético Madrid in 2022. He has earned over 30 caps for Argentina and scored at the 2026 World Cup.
