Merson: Bellingham's deeper role creates midfield dilemma for England

Former England international Paul Merson has highlighted a potential midfield dilemma for England coach Thomas Tuchel, following Jude Bellingham's strong showing in a deeper role against Panama.

Bellingham, who scored and assisted in the match, impressed Merson, but his preferred position clashes with Declan Rice, who is expected to return to the starting XI if fit for the Round of 32 clash against DR Congo.

Merson argued that Bellingham is more effective coming from deep, making him harder for opposition teams to pick up, compared to playing as a No. 10 where he struggled against Ghana. England faces DR Congo tomorrow, July 1.
