Jamal Musiala will sit out Germany's final Group E match against Ecuador on Thursday following a decision by coach Julian Nagelsmann to rest the midfielder. The 23-year-old Bayern Munich player will be given recovery time as part of load management before Germany's knockout fixture on Monday, 29 June.
Deniaz Undav of Stuttgart will start in Musiala's place. Germany have already confirmed their progression to the round of 32 after securing qualification in their opening group matches.
Musiala has been a key attacking outlet for Germany during the group stage. The rotation decision ensures he is fresh for the knockout phase, where matches become single-elimination contests.
