The agent representing South Africa international defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi has confirmed 'strong interest from Napoli' for the Chicago Fire player. Mbokazi, who will turn 21 in September, impressed for his country at the 2026 World Cup and has already accumulated 14 senior caps for South Africa.
MLS club Chicago Fire acquired Mbokazi from Orlando Pirates in January 2026 for €2.5m, but he could be on the move to Serie A. His agent, Basia Michaels, stated that while she has not had direct contact with Napoli's director of sport, Chicago Fire is actively working to sell the player.
Michaels added that if the two clubs can reach an agreement, playing for Napoli is 'certainly feasible'. She also acknowledged rumors of interest from Belgian, German, and other Italian clubs, as well as Premier League sides like Brentford and Nottingham Forest, but noted that concrete offers are still awaited.
A potential transfer for Mbekezeli Mbokazi to Napoli could influence the club's defensive strength and future transfer strategies.
