Roma's owners, the Friedkin family, are reportedly considering a radical approach to meet Financial Fair Play parameters by opting to pay a UEFA fine rather than selling any of their key players by the June 30 deadline.
The club had been expected to offload at least one major player, with Matias Soulé, Manu Koné, Evan Ndicka, and Mile Svilar all having received offers. However, under pressure from coach Gian Piero Gasperini and following Champions League qualification, Roma aims to retain its core squad.
While some sales have occurred, including Tommaso Baldanzi to Genoa and Alessandro Romano to Cagliari, these are not sufficient to meet FFP requirements. Roma is confident that future revenue increases from Champions League participation and centenary sponsorships will offset the fine and any potential squad list limitations for UEFA tournaments in 2027-28.
