Scotland's new head coach will face a significant challenge as the team transitions to a younger squad following Steve Clarke's surprise resignation. Clarke, who had signed a new four-year contract before the World Cup, left the position after the team's exit from the tournament.
The core of the current squad, which qualified for three major tournaments, is hitting their 30s. Andy Robertson, John McGinn, and Ryan Christie are all past 30, while Scott McTominay is 29. The next head coach will need to manage the transition to the next generation while maintaining the team's experience.
'There are a number of younger players in the squad now who will become the next core group. They should learn from the senior players that I've been lucky enough to work with,' Clarke said.
