Takehiro Tomiyasu is on the verge of joining Venezia on a free transfer, set to return to Serie A after leaving Arsenal.
The Lagunari have secured the player’s agreement on a three-year contract worth around €1 million net per season plus appearance-based bonuses.
The move has been accelerated by an injury to Marin Sverko, who has undergone corrective hip surgery that could sideline him for three to four months.
Sverko’s absence creates an urgent need at the back for Venezia ahead of the upcoming training camp.
Tomiyasu previously made his name in Italy with two seasons at Bologna between 2019 and 2021, making 61 Serie A appearances, before a €19 million move to Arsenal.
