Tottenham Hotspur are demanding €50m to sell Argentine centre-back Cristian Romero as the club seeks to move the defender on. The valuation emerged during negotiations with Inter Milan regarding right-back Djed Spence, with Romero's sale proposed by Tottenham's negotiators to the Italian side.
The 28-year-old signed a fresh contract until 2029 in August 2025, but his relationship with Spurs has deteriorated significantly. Both the club and Romero have concluded their partnership is over, with the Argentine having joined from Atalanta in 2022 for €53.8m.
Inter Milan remain reluctant to match Tottenham's €50m valuation. Romero's substantial wage package presents a significant obstacle, particularly as Inter have previously rejected similar fees for younger players with better long-term commercial value.
The Argentine already knows Italian football well, having played for Genoa, Juventus and Atalanta previously. Despite this familiarity with Serie A, the financial demands attached to a transfer to Inter appear prohibitive for the club.
