Upson to Join Arsenal

Elijah Upson has agreed to join Arsenal after turning down a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur to pursue the Gunners' project. The 18-year-old centre-back allowed his scholarship to expire at Spurs, sparking a transfer battle that saw him field offers from top European clubs including Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund.

“Understand 18-year-old centre-back Elijah Upson will leave the club upon the expiration of his scholarship on 30 June 2026. Has been offered a professional contract by the club but chosen to move on.”

The move follows Upson's decision to visit Arsenal's training ground, where he held talks with his family before committing to Mikel Arteta's side. The defender, who is the son of former Arsenal player Matthew Upson, is an England Under-18 international known for his physical presence and pace.
